Mu-Omega Memorial Scholarship Fund (nee Gene Barnes Scholarship Fund)

TKE Mu-Omega Chapter undergraduates have benefitted for nearly 40 years from the Mu-Omega memorial Scholarship Fund. Originally named the Gene Barnes Scholarship Fund (GBSF) in honor of Frater Gene Barnes (Scroll #56) who died in 1982 at a young age after a battle with cancer. Gene served Mu-Omega after his collegiate years as a chapter advisor and was a mentor for many TEKEs. Please read more about Frater Gene authored by his long time friend and frater, Tom Cooney. This fund serves to memorialize not only Frater Gene, but all 51 fraters who have passed to Chapter Eternal.

Since the establishment of the scholarship fund, Mu-Omega TEKEs have raised nearly $28,000 to benefit undergraduate chapter members. We have recognized 16 fraters over the years with a scholarship, totaling in excess of $8,000.

Please consider donating to the fund directly at Mu-Omega Scholarship Fund through the TKE Foundation Scholarships portal. Please be sure to select “TKE Scholarship – Mu-Omega” below your gift amount (see below screen shot). Also, did you know that forty percent of your annual dues goes to the scholarship fund as well? Since the association board of directors approved this use of funds in 2019, over $2,000 has been funded by your annual dues payment.
