2014 Annual Member Endowment

Show your support for the Alumni Association and the active TKE chapter at GMU by contributing an Annual Member Endowment for 2014! These endowments are an easy way to show your support each year, and help us sustain our goal of continuing the legacy of TKE at GMU.  All funds collected are channeled to support scholastic achievements in the active chapter, to donate towards philanthropic efforts, and to hold social and brotherhood events for our Members and friends. Additional support or donations are always welcome and make a big impact!

Previously, we have asked you for a $25 annual gift for the fraternity and then we charge tickets for events.  This year we’d like to ask you to give what you can at one of these three giving levels, $25, $50, and $75.  Your gifts help us do events like Homecoming, give a cash payout to our March Madness bracket challenge, provide a Fraternity Achievement Award to the active chapter, and help out Fraters at the undergraduate and Alumni level.

If you would like to make  a regular contribution at a monthly or yearly amount, please contact us and we will be able to set that up for you very easily.

TKE Week- Thank you

To all Mu Omega Alumni,

I joined the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity in hopes to meet new people and create new relationships. What I gained from this decision was much bigger than that. I am part of something much bigger than myself. I am a part of over 100 years of history and stand among the ranks of many great men before me.

I always believed in myself that I could accomplish something meaningful in my life, but I had no idea it would be something like this. Raising over $7,200 for a charity such as St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and knowing that we made an impact in another person’s life, it gives you such an amazing sense of personal worth and character.

Thank you to all our friends, classmates, alumni, and brothers for supporting this dream of ours. This was NOT because of the effort of one individual, it was because of the people who took the time and effort to put together such an amazing week and those who donated their time and money to support St. Jude.

Thank you specifically to Erin Horton, our St. Jude representative, Chris Townsend, Christopher Hall, Jacob Burket, Eric Mauthe, and the the rest of the TKE alumni for supporting us and helping out in every way they could. Without your help and guidance, none of this could have been possible.

Thank you, I love the Fraternity.

TKE Week 2013 Support

The Mu Omega Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon is hosting a week-long philanthropy fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital from October 21st-25th. The week consists of five daily fundraisers with a goal of raising $5000 for the charity. We need the help of every individual to reach this goal. If you would like to contribute, you can visit our website below to donate below.

http://mason.gmu.edu/~chalt/tkeweek/main.html

It takes 1.8 million dollars per day to operate the St. Jude hospitals and research facilities. Our goal may seem small compared to this amount, but with every dollar we raise and give  to the charity, we contribute to their goal of never having a family pay for the treatment of their children. Thank you for your support!

The results of your ongoing support

Gents, this letter is from the active chapter Histor, with exciting news about how your support has boosted chapter preparation & morale, and resulted in what looks to be a monumental Fall rush.

Thanks and I look forward to seeing you all Thursday.

Alumni Fraters,

It is my pleasure to update you the current progress the chapter is making during this rush season. As you may or may not know, IFC has changed the bidding process of fraternities and we are now allowed to bid new members through the entire rush period. I am very proud to say that Mu Omega has been taking full advantage of this opportunity and we have just recently given out 32 bids with plans to hand out at least another 10-15 by the end of rush to deserving new members. We have a very good chance of having a Fall pledge class above the 30 man mark.

On Sunday, September 8th, the chapter contacted every potential and asked them to meet in President’s Park at exactly 11:37pm. While all the freshman were standing in the park alone, at that exact minute, we had the ENTIRE CHAPTER including some alumni, walk over to the park in all formal wear. There, we personally handed out official bids to each potential. As they recived their bids one by one, many students stopped to watch and even came out of their dorms to witness what was happening. In my opinion, it was one of the most spetacular moments of brotherhood and chapter unity I have ever seen from Mu Omega in my three years as an active. Hopefully this will get you excited for what we have planned for this fall semester.

Having a pledge class of over 30 men is just the tip of the iceberg as far as goals we will reach this school year. New members are allowed to accept their bids on Wednesday, September 18th, so I hope to see you all at the Alumni Annual Business meeting on Thursday September 19th (7pm at Brion’s) so that I can share with you the final results of all our hard work in person. Thank you for your ongoing support, and I look forward to future collaborations between alumni and the active chapter. The amount of help and support we have received already has the entire chapter thanking you all greatly.

An Invocation

Over the last 4 years we have truly come together as an alumni chapter, 40+ years in the making. We have rekindled friendships, reunited long lost fraters and channeled a tremendous amount of support towards our active Mu Omega chapter.
The next few weeks are a very exciting time for us, we hope you will plan on attending our Fraternity For Life Ritual this upcoming Sunday, September 8th. This ritual unveils deeper meaning in our Fraternal bond, and serves as the official welcome for new graduates into the alumni association. Older alumni who have not yet experienced this ritual are especially invited to attend, and come to truly understand the meaning of the phrase “Tekes for Life.
Please email muomegatke@gmail.com if you plan to attend.
Secondly, our annual business meeting is scheduled for 9/19, so mark it on your calendars as this promises to be the big social event of the fall. We will trouble everyone with about 20-30 min of new business, ratify the new board for 2013-2014, and then commence the social portion of the evening.
And finally, a very big personal thank you from me to everyone who has continued to support financially over the years. Sending 4 Fraters to Conclave this year was really a fantastic achievement that we couldn’t have done without you. I hope you will join us at the annual meeting and hear firsthand how your support has made a tremendous difference in the lives of our undergraduate Fraters. If you would like to ensure that your membership is up to date and in good standing, you can show your support with a 2013 Annual Member Endowment here: http://muomegatke.com/?p=444
Venerable Alumni Prytanis, fellow Fraters, I love THE Fraternity.
Hope to see you Sunday!

Major Announcement

Earlier last week on our facebook page, we mentioned that we had a fantastic board meeting and will be sharing a very big announcement soon. Well now that we are very quickly approaching conclave, we would like to formally announce our largest endowment of support to the active Mu Omega Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon in quite a long time.

As you may know, every two years each chapter is required to send at least one active Frater to Conclave, but every TKE who has experienced a conclave knows that the bonds you form with your fellow Fraters from your chapter are some of the strongest.

Many chapters have experienced that the cost of attending conclave ($769 for a quad room rate) is a major hurdle in many collegiate members being able to participate. Over the past several months, TKE alumni board members of the Alumni Association and Board of Advisors have combined our efforts and contributed funds to send THREE additional Fraters to Conclave in Washington DC. With financial support from our dedicated 40+ years of alumni, we are excited to make this investment back into the Mu Omega Chapter, and have this group of TKE leaders bring the valuable experiences they gain at Conclave back to share with the rest of the chapter.

Between individual conclave attendance grants and a Fraternal achievement award presentation, a total of over $2000 was contributed, all stemming from your alumni support.

Now more than ever, it is so important for us each to take ownership of this incredible milestone, and be able to claim that “I contributed to the ongoing and future success of Mu Omega!”

Please consider supporting us with a 2013 Annual Member Endowment, or a general purpose donation.  Thank you very much, Yours In The Bond.
